Accountant I - Internal Medicine, Clinical
The primary purpose of the Accountant I position is to provide support programmatic activities of accounting and finance. Performs special assignments as required and prepares detailed data for accounting records, financial reports and special reports as required for internal controls and external review.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Accounting Reconciliation and Chartfield String Monitoring (50%)
Assists with reconciling the divisional statistical samples in compliance with financial controls. Monitors and resolves FACT Table CAT alerts and monitor and resolve FACT table updates for faculty soon to transfer/terminate or have terminated/transferred. Prepares basic accounting data items such as journal vouchers, for entry into the accounting system. Assists the monthly margin report updates, the statement of operations reports and the monthly accounting/financial reports. Prepares the monthly DoIM Active Chartfields and PeopleSoft Queries Reports. Reconciles expenditures, acquired by the division on behalf of its departments and programs. Demonstrates thorough working knowledge of institutional and state guidelines, which include purchase orders, travel and expense reimbursement via Concur. Audits vouchers and other documents for accuracy and compliance with established General Accounting procedures and system and state regulations. Maintains controlling records required to ensure accuracy of all data entered.
Clinical Reporting (25%)
Assist with preparing the departmental clinical activity workbooks to track monthly revenue and personnel metrics. Assists with providing reporting and analysis via the daily gross revenue report, departmental inpatient census, and average charge per unit, identifying areas of concern and needed action when applicable. Tracks document processes during the daily course of business in the department for accuracy and conformance with established procedures and regulations.
Dissemination of Accounting/Financial Reporting (25%)
Organizes and disseminates DoIM accounting/financial reporting for sharing throughout the Division, includes creating appropriate structure and folders for reports, cataloging reports, disseminating completed reports internally and throughout the division, communicating with DoIM finance staff including alerts about delinquent/missing reports and creating and sharing monthly/periodic progress checklists. Prepares adjusting and closing entries, statements, and analyzes financial operations as required.

EDUCATION
- Required: Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Accounting or related.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: 1 year Required with degree in Business Administration or related field. or
- Required: With a degree in Accounting, no experience is required.
- : May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
